W A T E R   ADVISORY

A long period of very hot weather always puts water supplies under stress and we observe this in declining recharge rates in our wells.

 Rather than wait for a Board of Health Mandatory Restriction, the Colony can institute its own water conservation measures by:

– Eliminating watering lawns during day light hours;

– Not washing cars and limiting hose use generally;

– Being creative about wasting water – ie; washing clothes at night, repair leaks, minimize flushing and so on……

 More water conservation tips from the New York City DEP are here:  http://nyc.gov/html/dep/pdf/ways_to_save_water/do_dont_english.pdf

 Your cooperation will assure that out wells and pumps can continue to provide reliable service during what has been a very long hot, dry period.

 This conservation advisory also applies to homes with private wells – same water source, same restrictions.

Water Committee.
